Today, for the first time in a long, long time, I put on my cross-trainers and left my apartment to do that thing that I stopped doing a while ago. You know...exercise. Sure, I don't have a car, so theoretically I'm burning calories by walking everywhere, but if I'm being honest, I must admit that there are days I never leave the building. It's a combination of working from home, and my personality--I LIKE being home. It's very easy for me to putter around the house for HOURS. I have many sedentary activities, and I enjoy both cooking and cleaning. This is a deadly combination. Today, in an effort to pry myself from my hermit hole, and give my heart a reward for handling all the cheesey goodness I've been shoveling down my craw with such aplomb, I took a little jog along the Hudson. The result was pretty much what I expected--red face, a fair amount of huffing and puffing, and some sweatiness. All in all though, I never felt like I was going to die, and I think I may have even enjoyed it a little bit. Will wonders never cease.

We sat next to a table occupied by three roadies who spent their entire meal bragging to one another about the calories they burned and the kilojoules of energy they produced.
