"Pure logic is the ruin of the spirit" (6/52)
52 Weeks: Week 6 (Year 3)
One of the best things about getting take-out Chinese food is the fortune cookie at the end of the meal. I love cracking open the cookie and reading my fortune. Most of the times they range from silly to absurd but this one had special meaning to me.
Sometimes I think I take life too seriously and look at things too logically. When I read this fortune, it actually made me stop and think if it this message was meant just for me. I held onto that little piece of paper for a few days as the words swirled around in my head. And then it becam
e apparent it would be my 52 Week photo.
If you are like me and analyze things too much or believe that the world should operate in a more logical manner, then let this be an eye opener for you, too. Don't let pure logic ruin your spirit! Look for the humor in life and listen to your intuition more often. Learn to see the gray areas of life and adapt to situations without expecting a pre-determined outcome. Ease up on yourself and don't worry about doing everything the "right way". Maybe it's time to make that illegal u-turn and drive around once again to take a second look at the situation. ;-)
I wish I was a cat (54/365)
It's been a long busy day at work and I'm tired - been into London on an early train and not back till after 8 and there's no creative spark left in me. Sometimes I wish I could be a cat and just spend my days snoozing, exploring the garden and being fed when I miaow. I suppose I might get bored. Then I could go catch something for a bit of excitement.

All of us long for a sense of meaning and purpose in our lives. But where does that meaning come from? How do we find our calling in life? In this short, helpful book Douglas Brouwer offers a personal, spiritual response to the vocational questions that people commonly ask. He links our true purpose to following Jesus greatest commandment---love God and love your neighbor---and points out that we find meaning and purpose by living not for ourselves but for something larger outside ourselves. Written for seekers of all ages, What Am I Supposed to Do with My Life? describes Brouwers own struggle to come to grips with the concept of vocation, incorporates inspirational stories of people and vocation from throughout his ministry, and includes discussion questions at the end of each chapter. Whether used for personal reading or small-group study, What Am I Supposed to Do with My Life? will encourage many to reflect meaningfully on their lives and vocations
